This is a Paul Odobey Tower clock mechanism made in Morez, France in 1896. It has two trains, pinwheel escapement "rack and snail" chime counter, and a Harrison type maintaining power during winding. The pendulum is a "one second", cast iron with a wood rod, temperature compensated (zinc) and weights 20lbs. The bell has a full strike on the hour, and repeating the hours two mins. Later and then one strike on the half hour. The bronze bell weighs about 80 lbs. The clock and chime weights are 55lbs ea and a winding last about two and a half days with a ten ft drop. I found the clock mechanism in Amsterdam in the 1980s while on a business trip layover and had it shipped to the US. It sat unrestored until this year when I got inspired after seeing the large French railway clocks in the movie "Hugo". Its too large and noisy for our house and I'm wondering where to place it where the public can see it, perhaps a clock museum somewhere.\Ross Welburn
